What is Functional Nutrition?

Functional Nutrition provides practitioners with diverse backgrounds with advent tools and the depth of knowledge necessary to effect substansive changes in the lives of their own clients and patients.

Functional Nutrition is the future of healthcare. It not only supports the needs of you as a patient but is also the answer to many of the problems in health and healthcare today.

 

Functional Nutrition is personalized medicine.  Delivering to each person the utility to take their health into their own hands, thereby gaining more ownership over their everyday choices in relation to their signs and symptoms and generating optimum health.

 

Functional Nutrition is nutrition-based health care focused on building and sustaining health. It aims to address imbalances by restoring proper physiological functioning of your body. This is done through food, lifestyle and supplement interventions.

 

Functional Nutrition helps transform a dysfunctional bodily system into optimal, functional health. It is not a one-size-fits-all discipline. Since we all have our own unique genetic make-up, health history, lifestyle and emotional profile, we each require a customized strategy to achieve and sustain optimal health for our own personal physiology.

 

Functional nutrition is a dynamic, transformative process. It involves refinement of both diet and lifestyle, to restore optimal health. It puts the responsibility on you, the client and allows you to begin to listen to your body to discover what truly works and what doesn’t for your own bodily processes. No one knows your body better than you!

Functional nutrition examines how food “functions” within your body. It provides nourishment but also influences your body’s health or disease states.

Working with a Health Coach who specializes in Functional Nutrition

When it comes to health care, too often time, energy and money is put into masking symptoms rather than treating the root causes. In this way we will never envision nor approach optimal health and well-being.

But when we can get to the underlying causes of physical dysfunction we can then gain a broad view of what feeds that dysfunction and from there begin to explore what will nourish or stimulate the body back toward optimum health and well-being.

As a Holistic Health Coach working with principles of Functional Nutrition, I do not diagnose, prescribe or treat. Rather my role is to:

  • understand the whole person coming to see me
  • address their inner terrain and the signs, symptoms or diagnosis that have manifested
  • educate my patients on why their health challenges occurred
  • educate my clients on how to take back control of their own health
  • utilize my specific skills to help fill the gap existing between physician and patient
  • be committed to working with my clients until we find the answers we’re looking for

When my clients are committed to their own journey, we see great results!

 

By looking at the whole picture — diet, symptoms, illness history, medications, lifestyle, toxic exposure, history of antibiotic use, stress, etc., we are able to put together an overall plan. This provides an outline of the nutrition and lifestyle changes your body needs to regain health and prevent illness.

I work with clients who have not found solutions to their chronic health issues, as well as those interested in preventive health, and who are willing to commit to making dietary and lifestyle changes.
